The Bendigo Braves Basketball Club is a community leader in delivering opportunities to children to better themselves through sport. The primary objectives of the Community Programs are to promote basketball and a healthy and active lifestyle inclusive to all.
The Bendigo Braves Basketball Club in partnership with McDonalds Bendigo delivers school clinics, working with the disadvantaged, corporate engagements, hospital visits, charity appearances, and working with local basketball clubs.
In 2014, the Bendigo Braves Basketball Club and Bendigo Stadium Limited partnered with Bendigo Health to establish the “Be Brave Children’s Ward”. Through this program all children attending the Children’s Ward and Rehabilitative unit are provided with a Bendigo Braves show bag. We also deliver the 13th Player concept which through consultation with the Bendigo Hospital a lucky child gets to join the team for a game day. 2014 also saw the first ever “Be Brave Speak Up Mental Health Awareness Event”. This event brought together Headspace, SPAN, Lifeline, Standby and Bendigo Health and offered the community a fantastic opportunity to openly discuss Mental Health. This event saw the Braves and Bendigo Stadium take out the 2014 CCV award for Best Welfare and Self Inclusion Programme.
The Bendigo Braves Basketball Club and Bendigo Stadium have a direct focus on ensuring we continue to be community leaders and continue to increase our support.
