Junior Braves sides finish Whittlesea tournament with sucess

Our Under 18 Boys 2, Under 16 Boys 2, and Under 14 Boys 2 all attended the Whittlesea City Basketball Association Junior Autumn Classic on the 14th, 15th and 16th of May with some outstanding results. During the big 3 day tournament the Junior Braves Sides won 2 Grand Finals and 1 Runners Up.

A summary of these results is below:


Under 16 Boys Section 2 Grand Final Winners

The Under 16 Boys 2 side went undefeated at the Whittlesea Tournament, with all players scoring and their biggest win of 30 points coming against Footscray (49-19). The Braves met Whittlesea Pacers 2 in the Grand Final and won by 6 points, Liam O’Brien scored a game high of 7 points in the Grand Final match. All players contributed 18 plus points in their 5 game undefeated tournament with Brodie Brown top scoring with 33 for the tournament.


Under 18 Boys Section 4 Winners

The Under 18 Boys 3 started off the Whittlesea Tournament with a big win against Wattle Glen(56-28) with Jackson Hufer scoring a tournament high 20 points. The Braves only loss came in the pool rounds against Riddells Creek with the Braves losing 37 to 31, the two sides met again in the Grand Final with the Braves coming out on top this time winning the game 46 to 29 with Jackson Hufer scoring 17 points. Both Jackson Hufer and Dimitrios Hayes had outstanding tournaments with a joint effort of 120 points between the two of them over their 5 games.

Under 14 Boys Section 2 Runners Up

The Under 14 Boys 2 team had mixed results in their Whittlesea Tournament pool games winning two games and losing two games, their biggest win came against Eltham Wildcats 4 (40-24). The Junior Braves side came up against the Whittlesea Pacers 2 team for the section 2 Grand Final who were too strong in the end with the Braves losing 22 to 31. Oliver Eaton amassed the most points for all 5 games scoring 25 for the tournament.

Several players from these teams will continue to play Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL) over the Autumn / Winter.
