The Young Lady Braves and Young Braves both qualified on top of their respective pools in the Country Basketball League (CBL), earning the right to host their quarterfinal games tomorrow (Sunday) at the Bendigo Stadium.
Both teams will be up against the Wangaratta Warriors and both will be looking for a similar result to last week when they convincingly defeated the Warriors at home in the final regular season game.
Dominant scorers Madi Sexton averaging 17 points a game, 5th in the league, Jessie Rennie averaging 16 points and Tahnee Cannan averaging 14 points will all line up for the undefeated Young Lady Braves, as will the league leading three point scorer Danielle O’Toole and Charlotte Brancatisano.
Similarly the Young Braves will go into their quarter final with a full strength team. Jake Cowling, Aidan Brohm, Jake Lloyd, Lewis Beks, Tanner Rayner and Daniel Hansen are all averaging double figures in points per game. Hansen, widely regarded as a three-point specialist has connected on 21 occasions from beyond the arc in just 4 games played this season, ten of those coming in last weekend’s double-header.
The Young Lady Braves game will tip off at 12:00 pm with the Young Braves to immediately follow at 2:00 pm. Entry is a gold coin donation and the stadium is air conditioned so beat the heat and come down and cheer on the future stars of Bendigo basketball.
