Under 14 Boys
Day 1 – The Under 14 Boys started off the Championships with a tough game against Pakenham losing the game 28 to 33. In their next two games, the Braves dominated with a 41 point win against Orbost and a 66 point win against Wangaratta with Josiah Pattinson high scoring with 20 points.
Day 2 – The Braves won all 3 of their day 2 games by over 25 points, Josiah Pattinson yet again scored 20 points against Sale, with Lachlan Sommerville top scoring with 14 against Colac.
Day 3 – The Braves came up against the Ballarat in their quarter final, winning the game 34 to 24 with Patrick Byrne top scoring the game on 10 points. The Braves were then defeated by Geelong in the semi finals losing the game 36 to 48.
Under 14 Girls
Day 1 – The Under 14 Girls started off their Championships with 3 wins against Melton, Leongatha and Hamilton with Taylah Rennie top scoring for the day with 16 points against Hamilton.
Day 2 – The Braves had a slow start to day 2 losing their first two games against Shepparton and Macedon, then defeating Horsham in a convincing fashion with Taylah Rennie yet again top scoring with 22 points. This put the 14 Girls team into Division 2 for the final day of the tournament.
Day 3 – The Braves had an early exit losing to Echuca (the Division 2 Winners) 27 to 42, with Kaleah Bonanno scoring 12 points in the quarter final.
Both sides will continue to compete in the Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL) throughout the Autumn/Winter season, regularly travelling to Melbourne and surrounds on Friday nights for matches.
After the conclusion of the Under 14 Championships, final placings for the 2018 season have been released by BVC. Bendigo Basketball Association finished with an impressive 7 of our teams finishing in the top 5 Country Victorian rankings.

This result gives BBA the unofficial title of “Best Association in Country Victoria”.
