Bendigo Bank Braves legend Chris Hogan will return to the court in 2018, confirmed by Bendigo Bank Head Coach Ben Harvey today.
With 397 games under his belt, Hogan sits at number one on the Braves’ all time games list however at the end of the 2017 season he indicated he would sit out the 2018 season leaving the 400 game milestone sitting illusively out of reach. This signing will see Hogan undoubtedly stepping into a leadership position under coach and close friend, Ben Harvey, and alongside SEABL 2016 Championship MVP Jeremy Kendle.
When asked what changed his mind, Hogan is quick to complement his wife Kym and her unwavering support for his love of the game. “Kym and Ben (Harvey) actually started the conversation about me playing on without my knowledge, they recognized the passion I still have, I am lucky to have such a supportive family and they will be cheering me on for another season.” Hogan also noted that not making finals in 2017 gave him a bit of extra time off and it was during that period of reflection he realized he still had a lot that he could contribute both on and off the court.
With career statistics of 397 games (equal fifth all-time); 25 finals (equal fifth all-time); 1374 rebounds (426 offensive); 397 assists; 107 steals it is not hard to see why Harvey lured Hogan back to the court for what is shaping up to be a formidable roster in 2018. Bendigo Braves memberships are now on sale via the website or at the Bendigo Stadium sports office.
