Basketball will Resume 28 July

The Victorian Government, on advice from the Department of Health, has lifted Victoria’s state-wide lockdown as of Tuesday 27 July at 11.59pm.

Collectively, it is basketballs responsibility to ensure this success is not short lived and that all stakeholders do everything possible to protect the health and safety of the community, within the guidelines provided.

RESTRICTION LEVEL
The following Return to Sport information affects both Greater Melbourne and Regional Victoria with all information applying state-wide.

In line with Victorian Government health directives, associations in Victoria will be able to operate at a capacity level suitable for their stadiums, up to the ORANGE-50 REACTIVATION LEVEL within Basketball Victoria’s Return to Sport Guidelines. At this level, basketball will be able to recommence under these restrictions (for the next two weeks):

  • 1 person per 4sqm of the venue
  • 1 parent or guardian per 18-and-under participant subject to density limits of individual stadiums to be known as “useable space”
  • COVID Check-In Marshal to be present at all venues to assist with checking in all patrons

*USEABLE SPACE – is defined as the total m2 area within a space excluding the court playing area (28m x 15m = 420m2) within the venue which is only accessible by the participants. Associations should calculate the Length x Width of a space, subtract 420m2 for each court within the space, then divide by the current density quotient eg. 4 (1per 4m2). This will determine the maximum capacity of each space that can be allocated to parents and guardians. Please contact Basketball Victoria if you have any further queries about Useable Space.
