Bendigo Stadium Limited (BSL) and the Bendigo Basketball Association (BBA) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Tom Thorn as the Head Coach of the Bendigo Braves for the upcoming 2023 Country Basketball League (CBL) season. Tom Thorn, who has demonstrated exceptional coaching prowess and dedication to the Bendigo Braves, will lead the team into what promises to be an exciting season of basketball.
Tom Thorn is no stranger to the Bendigo Braves and CBL, having previously served as head coach of the team on multiple occasions. His wealth of coaching experience and deep understanding of the Bendigo Braves’ culture and community make him the perfect choice to lead the team forward. In addition to his time with the senior Braves, Thorn has made significant contributions to the development of young talent through his work with the Junior Braves program.
BSL Acting General Manager of Sport, Sam Cartwright, expressed his support for the appointment: “Tom Thorn is an integral part of our basketball community. His leadership and coaching skills have been instrumental in the growth and success of the Bendigo Braves. We have every confidence that Tom will continue to inspire our players and drive the team to new heights.”
Martin Spottiswood, BBA President, is pleased with Toms appointment: “Tom for many years has shown his commitment to the Bendigo Braves in various coaching roles, and his ability to nurture talent has been evident throughout his time with the Braves. We believe in his ability to guide the team in the rigors of senior basketball will be apparent, and continue their development to success in the 2023 CBL season.”
Tom Thorn expressed his excitement about the upcoming season and working with the emerging Braves athletes: “I am appreciative of the opportunity to lead the Braves once again. We have a fantastic group of young emerging talent, and I am excited to work with them to continue to develop our current and future senior Braves players.”
The CBL Season commences with an away trip to Maryborough, Saturday 7th October 2023.
